Position Title: Dance Company Administrator
Location: Boston area
Employment rate: Part-time (15-20 hours per week, negotiable, depending on availability and responsibilities)
DANCE COMPANY ADMINISTRATOR
Boston Dance Theater () is an exciting up and coming professional contemporary dance repertory company with international leadership and choreographers developing a repertoire of professional level works of socio-political relevance. BDT matches the talent of Boston dancers with acclaimed global choreographers to bring more high caliber dance to the city of Boston.
Through well-known presenters such as Global Arts Live and Jacob’s Pillow, BDT has performed at major venues such as the Institute for Contemporary Art and at the Pillow Festival.
About the Job: BDT is seeking someone to assist with a variety of administrative functions including maintaining Google calendar / scheduling, internal communications, booking rehearsal space, production assistance, purchasing, managing contracts, artist liaison, external communications, drafting and posting marketing / social media updates, managing auditions and the trainee program.
Additional assistance, as hours and skills allow, may include basic bookkeeping, payroll or tax filing support as well as fundraising support, including grant writing support.
The ideal candidate will be able to work at least part of the time in person on her/his own laptop in BDT’s rehearsal space in Coolidge Corner, Brookline. This will enable the administrator to be present as administrative needs arise and to communicate directly and most efficiently with the company director and company members. The candidate may participate in company class; this does not count toward hours worked but may be considered a perk of the job.
College degree or some other associate level degree ideally with some focus relevant to the position (arts, communication, management)
Experience demonstrating responsibility, ability to handle administrative work, including deadlines
Proficiency with drafting, organizing, communication.
Well-organized, thorough, detail oriented
Team player with supportive attitude
Able to be proactive with tasks and needs.
