BRYAN MATLUK
Director of Development

Matluk has previously built and directed fundraising operations for several institutions including the Ogunquit Museum of Art (Ogunquit, Maine), The Ecology School (Saco, Maine) and Lancaster Symphony Orchestra (Lancaster, PA), to name a few. Matluk began fundraising after being appointed as Interim Executive Director of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (Carlisle, PA) by its founder, Marcia Dale Weary. At the time, Matluk was ‘a triple threat’ overseeing their lucrative summer and outreach programs and instructing intermediate classes while still dancing. A 2010 graduate of the DeVos Institute of Arts Management under founder Michael Kaiser, Matluk has consulted for several dance organizations including the Performance Garage (Philadelphia, PA), COMPLEXIONS Contemporary Ballet (New York, New York) and more. Matluk teaches ballet to aspiring professional dancers out of his home in Maine and is Board Secretary of #instaballet (Eugene, OR)  which uses a unique, interactive dance model to unite audiences with dancers. Its mission is to teach the use of creativity to empower the self and build community through the art of dance.

“Ever since discovering dance relatively late in life, during college, it has thrilled and delighted me as an ephemeral art form in which the mode of expression is the most humane of things: our bodies. Early on in my own training my mentors, the late Marcia Dale Weary and the late David Hukill, helped me realize that I could use my previous education and management skills to benefit dance off stage as well as on,” says Matluk. In terms of fundraising, Matluk has overseen several capital campaigns and is known for often doubling and tripling revenues with his previous appointments.

As Boston Dance Theater’s first Director of Development, Matluk will work with donors, stakeholders, and the community to support the artistic vision of the company and continue BDT’s history of bringing contemporary dance to the Boston area.
