SURGE on Martha's Vineyard

In association with The Trustees and The Yard, and supported by a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant, Boston Dance Theater brings the second iteration of the SURGE Fellowship to Martha's Vineyard with two performances in June 2024!

The SURGE Coastal Community Fellowship is a  residency program that accompanies Boston Dance Theater's SURGE performance. The program has been designed for a group of BIPOC movement artists residing in coastal communities that are vulnerable to the impacts of sea level rise. The SURGE Fellowship provides the opportunity for Fellows to reflect on the impacts of local climate events, build on existing narratives of resilience to climate change, and to envision a thriving future for the community through artistic presentation.

Join us on June 21 + 22, 2024 at Long Point Beach (Summer Entrance) for two evenings of environmentally focused performances from Boston Dance Theater, alongside works from the 4 SURGE Martha's Vineyard Fellow's!

Please be sure to bring your own folding lawn chairs if you wish to sit for the performance!
