About The Event
Jessie Jeanne Stinnett aims to create a new performance work in collaboration with Gloucester based multimedia artist Kim Radochia. Kim and Jessie’s artistic practices share a deep appreciation for nature and take inspiration from the processes of plant emergence. With the dance artists of Boston Dance Theater, Jessie and Kim will explore how lessons from plants can be applied to human behavior, and to the process of creative dance performance work. Plant systems are cooperative and altruistic by nature. This project is an opportunity for the artists and the audience to see the world differently, an invitation to step outside of the anthropocene and imagine alternative, holistic futures in which humans live in right relationship with the environment. Informed by Jessie’s reading of 15+ books on plants from both scientific and Indigenous perspectives, BDT will experientially research plant life in the Great Marsh and create an installation work with Kim’s sculptural pieces as immersive art.
